Your Therapists/Coaches
Neil Dolan MSc
Hi, I'm Neil and I am fully qualified and nationally accredited Psychologist, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Therapist, Neuro-Lingusitic Programming Practitioner, Life Coach, and published authour all rolled in to one. I provide treatment to clients globaly and locally (South Yorkshire), from a private therpay suite in Sheffield S10 and online via Skype or Zoom.
I know all too well what it's like to suffer from mental health problems, I suffered from anxiety, depression and addictions for well over two decades. Since resolving my own mental health issues in 2014, I have consistently been re-educating myself and working in the field of therapeutic behaviour change.

I believe in taking a person centred approach to therapy, treating the person not the condition, focusing on your personal needs, wants, desires and goals.

We can all struggle at times to deal with the many day to day stressors of life. We can easily start experiencing difficulties which can lead to negative patterns of thinking and numerous difficult symptoms, such as anxiety, fears, limiting beleifs, stress or even addictions. These issues can often lead to relationship and work difficulties.
Together, we can explore what has brought you to therapy and address any psychological mechanisms which are maintaining your current issues. My aim as a therapist is to help you to change the way you perceive your situation and the way you relate this to yourself.

Charlotte Sykes BSc

Hi, I'm Charlotte and I'm and Existential Therapist and Mentor/Coach all rolled into one and I provide my services, from my private office on Regent Street, Barnsley South Yorkshire, as well as providing both telephone and online appointments via Zoom.
Like many people, I have experienced trauma first-hand which became debilitating, both mentally and physically, day to day tasks soon became extremely difficult, and as a mum of two, I realized I needed to seek professional help. I soon began to recognise the importance of self-care and understanding the importance of living true too myself, to my values and taking responsibility for my own health and wellbeing.
As a woman of Faith with a heart to serve others, and give back, I embarked on a very personal journey back into adult education where I had a vision of restoring hope to people in my community who are suffering in their own mental health and struggling to find a way out. This created the meaning in my life and gave me a true purpose.

What is an Existentail Crisis?
An existential crisis, also known as existential dread, are moments when individuals question whether their lives have meaning, purpose, or value, and are negatively impacted by the contemplation. This often results in feelings of unease about meaning, choice, and freedom in life.

What is Existentail Mentoring/Coaching?
The philosophical grounding of the existential approach to mentoring/coaching implies that human experience is unavoidably uncertain (chaos and conflict), and as such is open to novel and unpredicted possibilities. Often this uncertainty can reach crisis point leading us to experience anxiety and or depression, which can commonly lead to increased tension and defensiveness. Risky behaviours are common as we try to avoid, escape, or deny theses uncomfortable feelings.
Existential anxiety and uncertainty are two of the three key principles of existential thought.
The third principle is that of relatedness, we are all unique, yet everything that exists is always in an inseparable relation to everything else. As an existential mentor/coach, I believe that coming alongside another in a mutual way allows open and honest conversations that help us to understand ourselves and those around us much better.
What is Charlotte's professional experience?
My work history is one of supporting, advocating, and encouraging individuals in a person centred way. After leaving school I began a carer in adult social care and for over a decade supported adults who were ladled as having challenging behaviour. I soon came to realize that these behaviours were a way for these individuals to communicate and as such my person centred approach allowed me to build solid relationships which facilitated positive behavioural changes.
I continue to work in the social care sector and now run my own social enterprise (Living Hope Community mentors), where I have combined my therapeutic skills and love for community.
I believe that connection is vital for everyone and through working closely on a one to one mentoring/coaching basis with individuals, I get a very strong sense of fulfilment, guiding and witnessing others going through self-exploration, developing and growing into who they truly are, and who they would like to become.
